Vid: Family

This video sat on my hard drive for a long, long time in its various stages of development. I'm not exactly the swiftest of vidders - well, I'm not exactly a vidder to say the truth! But I'm enjoying myself....
With this one I wanted to show how a bunch of strangers became a family. It's one of the Farscape themes that sit close to my heart.

Date: 2011-06-04 04:37 pm (UTC)I needed to finish this (I started working on it last September!!) and I went through 2 song choices before deciding on this short piece because, as Coco Chanel used to say, "less is more" - in this case, less is better LOL
Thank you so much! *hugs*

Date: 2011-06-05 05:51 am (UTC)Your clip choices are perfect with the music...so many jumped out at me...thecannons at :20, the food cubes at :42, John & Zhaan at :51, Rygel & Zhaan and Zhaan and Pilot around a 1:00, then John & Chi...and I'm just going to start listing all of them LOL
Beautiful job, it really brightened my morning :)

Date: 2011-06-05 08:17 am (UTC)You are totally a vidder!
Not so sure about that, not when I look at the work of people like you and Diar and others... Not when I can't find the dedication to finish a job in a decent time frame *blush*
But I'm so glad to have brigthened your morning...

Date: 2011-06-05 01:33 pm (UTC)I don't feel like a vidder compared to Diar and others ;) I've only made a dozen...I have another three dozen in various stages but rarely seem be able to finish them. And since I started writing I've found I get more creative satisfaction from that.
"Decent time frame"? I've been working on the same story for over a year, I don't know what you're talking about ;)
Love your new icon!

Date: 2011-06-05 04:08 pm (UTC)Writing inspiration/drive is (IMHO) another matter because it requires a different kind of energy: nothing I can put into words but that's how it looks.
Vidding seems to me more like completing a puzzle: you have all the pieces, they are there, scattered on your table and you need "only" to assemble them in the order required by your inspiration/mood/whatever.
For writing the pieces are not there, not physically: you have to root for them inside your brain and your soul, and sometimes the process is a difficult one, sometimes it's even painful. And even when you have finally found the perfect piece, you have to shape it.
And that takes more time...
At least IMVVVVHO...
As for the icon, I'm a cartoonish mood, yes! ;-)

Date: 2011-06-07 08:30 am (UTC)I think that makes a lot of sense! It is a totally different kind of energy and focus; with vids you are matching material that is already there with other material that is already there.
With fic you are working (usually) with established characters and settings, but there is a lot more that you are creating yourself, and that can take time.

Date: 2011-06-14 02:51 am (UTC)This is a lovely vid and you've illustrated so well the journey they made from a bunch of strangers without an ounce of trust to a family unit who'd do anything for each other.
Thank you so much for sharing.
