How do I love Farscape? Let me count the ways...

SEASON ONE

The end sequence from EXODUS FROM GENESIS is one of my favorite moments, for many reasons. First, it's the first time when John and Aeryn face each other in a relaxed way: it's particularly clear from Aeryn's face and manner. It's also the first time she sees John as a true person, and not a strange creature, and says so – even if she does it... in riddles.

The other reason is the wonderful visuals: the orange-brown tones of Moya, the background of space with that golden light, and – above all – the terrace, one of the most beautiful sights on our beloved Leviathan.

This sequence in THE HIDDEN MEMORY was the one where I went from simple admiration for Aeryn's character to unadulterated worship. Here comes the first major severing of her ties with the Peacekeepers, and what she says to Crais "Do you know what I learned when I was away from you? Everything I lost isn't worth a damn. And I don't want to go back to your past." is always a 'hell, yeah!' moment for me, because there is where her growth, as a person and an individual, starts on an exponential curve.

SEASON TWO

I confess, I'm a J&A shipper, and although I acknowledge the fact that Farscape is not just about them, their love story has a special place in my heart. That's one of the reasons I enjoy so much the final sequence of LOOK AT THE PRINCESS – part 3: first it neatly closes the circle that started in part 1 with that other kiss in the module, and second because it's a frelling great scene, played as it is in total silence. Only the actors' faces speak, and they do it in a magnificent way.

Just to counterbalance the previous shippiness, here is one of the most chilling episode- and season endings – DIE MIE DICHOTOMY: I feel, deeply, for those poor Scapers that watched this when Farscape first aired, and had to wait long months to know if Aeryn was really dead, and what would happen to John, strapped on a surgical table, his brain wide open and the language center impaired. That primal scream, the only sound he can utter, so full of rage and impotent despair, tears at my soul every time I watch this ending.

SEASON THREE

For this season I've chosen moments from the first and last episode: I like balance....

For SEASON OF DEATH, my favorite moment is the one when Aeryn steps outside in the storm, armed with D'Argo's qualta blade and shoots the Scarran: she's not only back from death, she returns to life kicking ass in a major way! I also love the moment when John accepts that she's not a hallucination, but the real thing, and holds her close (hear my shippy heart beating faster?), but here she's being a warrior through and through. Cue in the wild cheering....

Not much to say about DOG WITH TWO BONES: it's one of my favorite episodes – ever – one where the intensity of the exchange gets sometimes too much to bear, and yet has me coming back for more. The scene in the hangar bay between John and Aeryn – the one I call "the opposite impossibilities" – is indeed a masterpiece, both in dialogue and in performance.

For this I have chosen some close-up of their faces, the raw emotions speaking for themselves, and an image of the (in)famous coin toss. These two still have a long road to travel *sigh*

SEASON FOUR

There is so much pathos in Aeryn and John's long-awaited reunion in PROMISES, and what an emotional rollercoaster! First we see John scouting the hangar bay, gun in hand, looking for danger, then Aeryn appears and after the initial surprise there is that open, happy smile on John's face that make us hope. It doesn't last long, though: from the discovery of Aeryn's illness, to John's assurances that everything will be all right, we feel that something worse is going to happen. And right on clue, there comes Scorpius. Wow...

Rather than a moment this is a collage of two linked moments: Aeryn's return to Moya after her rescue from the Scarrans is the first. The constant mind-frells at the hands of her captors made her wary of what she sees and hears, and she has trouble accepting the reality of being safe, and being with John. After the long search and the dangerous rescue operation, this quiet moment between John and Aeryn is worth more than the most passionate of kisses. As is the other sequence, where we see an exhausted John sleeping right next to Aeryn, and she's tenderly caressing his head.

Never mind that in a few microts Harvey will make his reappearance. This is just frelling wonderful.

PEACEKEEPER WARS

The mini-series that ends the saga is often at the center of contrasting opinions: some love it, some hate it, some stand in the middle. I'm the first to recognize it's far from perfect, that some characterizations are "off", that it could have avoided a few explosions and delved deeper into other areas. But if I let myself be taken in by the epic-like narrative flow, I can enjoy it – pain and loss notwithstanding...

Choosing only two moments has been more than difficult, there are many of them, so I just picked two at random. In PART ONE there's the little exchange between John and Aeryn, the one about naming their child: Aeryn utters one of her strange Sebacean words, one that sounds like a cross between a strangled shout and a donkey baying. Peacekeeper humor is truly different... The final shot, after John has picked up the mood and treated her to a fake display of male arrogance, is simply priceless: Aeryn walks away, raising her pulse gun in reply – the PK version of the middle finger, I guess. It's a window in this couple's interaction, and it bodes quite well for their future.

In PART TWO, I never fail to turn into a puddle of goo when I see John talking to his baby, after he's finally woken up from the coma: much as I love the final sequence of Little D'Argo's christening, and the final look at Moya's terrace, this is my favorite because here we see the family finally reunited, and Aeryn's smile in here says more than a thousand words.

To quote John Crichton, there are indeed worse ways to end a day...

Fabulous, Nym.

I especially like the scene you chose from Hidden Memory, as that is also one of my all time favourite FS scenes, and missed the cut from my own picspam. Unlike so many other scenes, where a number of us have chosen similar things, you're the only person to choose this one so far, so thank you.

Thank you for the wonderful feedback!
There is indeed too much to choose from, and yet it's hardly surprising that so many of us might pick up the same scenes and pictures: some of them are indeed burned into our brains...

Oh Nym I only saw this now going through my flist on LJ, you didn't enter it yet in the master post?? SHE GOES TO LOOK!

Nope, don't forget to do it ;)

Anyway, how easily I digress! I love this! As ADS said that scene from the Hidden Memory is fab and a totally original choice!

The terrace scene really is stunning from every point of view...now you are making me change my mind on my own entry! LOL

All the other moments are some of my fave too and made my runner ups...as you already said great minds think alike or (more like it) J/A shippers are totally sad and love the same kind of sappiness (and angst!) :DDDD

Great picspams too! Your blurbs are great reading as usual!

Thank you for a great one!

This ending scene from Exodus From Genesis is what finally convinced me to try and give the whole series a chance. (I found on YouTube Premiere and EFG when I was thinking about going into new series). I was intrigued by the terrace and thought there would be some explanation how it works:)))

As shippers we share most of our favorite scenes, yay! :)))

Oh, I love this! Very nice picspams and I liked your descriptions very much. All of these are among my favourites too (maybe except the DMD one, like I said NINE YEARS lol), and you have lots of my 'I'm really really sorry to loose this scene' runner ups.

Great work!

Choices are always so hard to make! Ask Xhalax.... :-D :-D

Jokes aside, many of us love the same scenes with the same intensity so it's hardly surprising...

Thanks for stopping by!
